Guerlain Liu EDP is a rich and emotional fragrance that combines the floral and oriental with an unusual dry twist. An ardent aficionado of opera, Jacques Guerlain couldn’t help but fall under the spell of Puccini’s Turandot and could not resist the charm of Liu, a woman as beautiful as she is heroic. For this fragrance, Jacques Guerlain composed an olfactory poem in ode to Liu, in which Aldehydes play one of their most amazing roles.
Unlike any of his other creations Aldehydes dominate the head notes and, like cymbals, announce the entry of rose and jasmine, which brilliantly sing a melody of sensuality. Like a musical score, the fragrance had to mellow into calm and voluptuous notes. The challenge was met, as vanilla quickly harmonises its carnal accents with those of iris and wood notes.
