Yves Saint Laurent YSL Opium For Women Fine Fragrance Collection
YSL Opium was a revolutionary fragrance that completely reinvented the Oriental perfume category and when it was launched in 1977 it created an immediate sensation, due to its unusual and unashamedly sensual blend of notes.
Yves Saint Laurent wanted to produce a perfume that evoked the Orient; an embodiment of the exotic, colourful spirit of Imperial China. He called it Opium as a provocative name, one that was suggestive of addiction, passion, enchantment and would vocally conjure the image of the intense juice that he had created.
Yves Saint Laurent unfolds its intoxicatingly sensual aroma with a spicy blend of cinnamon and pepper, over a flowery touch of carnation. It develops into a middle note of jasmine, rose and ylang ylang, which is bathed on warm, oriental-style base of vanilla, patchouli and opoponax.
